Overview
Tokyo: The Journey — A Visual Journey Through Youth, Sport & Street Culture. A deep dive into the heart of Tokyo, this project set out to explore where and how young people gather, express themselves, and define contemporary urban culture. The goal: to uncover the intersections of sport, style, and creativity—and translate those insights into design inspiration for a limited-edition sneaker release and sportswear collection. The Journey: Photo Book A limited-edition (250 copies), 300-page photo book featuring 200+ original images that capture Tokyo’s youth, their movements, and their cultural landscapes. Culture Mapping An on-the-ground exploration of Tokyo’s creative ecosystems—from vibrant neighbourhoods to late-night hip-hop rehearsals tucked within the city’s business districts. Visual Inspiration Hundreds of original photographs and short documentaries documenting urban sportswear, street performance, and subcultural expression. Impact & Outcome Authentic visual and cultural material that directly informed Nike’s Nippon sneaker line, Air Force 1, and the TDS collection—influencing both product design and campaign storytelling for flagship stores in Tokyo and Global.
